Clover & Ide
If youâve ever wondered whether sustainability and self-care could coexist in style, youâre about to meet someone who proves they absolutely can. At Clover & Ide, every bar, balm, and bottle comes with a story, a journey of tradition, innovation, and a dash of good luck.
We sat down with the founder behind Clover & Ide to talk about what inspired her to blend beauty with eco-conscious living, the family legacy hidden in her brand name, and why âgood enoughâ is never enough for her products. From kitchen-counter experiments to must-have favorites, she shares the heart (and humor!) behind her craft, plus what it really means to be a small-batch maker in a world obsessed with convenience.
Letâs dive in.
Â
What inspired you to start Clover & Ide, and what does your brand name mean to you?
Clover & Ide began with a simple realization: choosing all-natural and zero-waste shouldnât mean giving up beauty, luxury, or effectiveness. Too often, sustainable products felt plain, utilitarian, or like a compromise. I wanted something differentâproducts that cared for the body and the planet, while also feeling indulgent and refined. Â
The name Clover & Ide carries both history and heart. Ide is a family name with deep entrepreneurial rootsâmost notably through the Ide Collar Company, a reminder that innovation and craftsmanship run through generations. Clover represents luck and new beginnings, as well as a nod to the Devon Horse Show, the community where Clover & Ide was founded. Together, Clover & Ide symbolizes heritage meeting hope: a brand built on tradition, creativity, and the belief that everyday rituals can carry both meaning and beauty. Â
How did you get started making your products? Any fun âtrial and errorâ moments?
Clover & Ide began at my kitchen counter with a lot of curiosityâand just as many mistakes. In the early days, I went through countless batches that didnât turn out the way I imagined: soaps that were too soft, shampoo bars that didnât lather enough, scent blends that worked on paper but not in reality. There were plenty of moments when it would have been easier to give up, but I couldnât shake the feeling that I was onto something worth perfecting.
So I kept going. I tested, adjusted, and tested again, sometimes remaking a formula dozens of times until it felt exactly right. I wasnât satisfied until each product not only worked, but felt better than anything Iâd ever used beforeâgentle, effective, and luxurious all at once. That process taught me patience, persistence, and that true quality takes time. Every product in Clover & Ide exists because I refused to settle for âgood enough.â
Whatâs your favorite product you make, and what makes it special?
Our Perfect Shampoo Bar holds a special place in my heart. Itâs the product that pushed Clover & Ide forward, because itâs not only effective and luxurious, but it also embodies what we stand for: natural ingredients, zero waste, and everyday elegance. Itâs the product that feels most âus.â The overwhelming positive response from customers has absolutely blown me away.Â
Why is using all-natural ingredients and zero-plastic packaging important to you?
The older I get, the more important it has become to live in a way that feels aligned with my values. I grew up in a world where plastic was everywhereâit wrapped, packaged, and filled almost everything we used. At the same time, so many beauty products were full of ingredients I couldnât pronounce, much less trust to put on my skin. For years, I accepted it as âjust the way things are.â
But as I became more aware of how these choices affect both our health and the planet, I couldnât ignore it anymore. I wanted betterâfor myself, for the people I love, and for the environment. Thatâs why Clover & Ide is built on two non-negotiables: all-natural ingredients that truly care for the body, and zero-plastic packaging that doesnât harm the earth. To me, luxury means knowing that what Iâm using is as clean, honest, and sustainable as it is beautiful.
Whatâs the most rewarding part of running your business?
The most rewarding part of running Clover & Ide is hearing from customers who tell me how our products have elevated their daily beauty routinesâhow something as simple as washing their hair or cleansing their skin now feels like a moment of self-care and luxury. Those stories mean everything, because they remind me why I started in the first place: to create products that make people feel good, inside and out.
One of my favorite stories, though, comes from right at home. My pre-teen son, who is notoriously picky about his personal care products, tried my shampoo and conditioner and loved them so much he refuses to use anything else. Knowing that something I created resonates not just with customers but with my own family makes it all the more meaningful.
Whatâs something you wish more people understood about small-batch makers?
When you buy from a small-batch maker, youâre not just buying a productâyouâre supporting a passion. Every item is the result of countless hours of thought, care, and dedication. Small-batch makers pour their heart and soul into what they create, from carefully choosing ingredients to perfecting the tiniest details of design. Itâs not about chasing profit; itâs about sharing something meaningful, something made with intention. Each purchase is a piece of that story, connecting you to the craft, the maker, and the love behind it.
Thank you for joining us on Clover & Ideâs journeyâwhere a little luck, a lot of heart, and an uncompromising eye for quality come together in every product.
Whether youâre a longtime supporter of small-batch makers or just discovering the difference that passion and purpose can bring to your daily routine, Clover & Ide is proof that beauty, sustainability, and a sense of connection really can go hand-in-hand.
So next time you reach for your shampoo or soap, remember: behind every bar is a maker who refused to settle, a family story worth telling, and a belief that everyday rituals should feel like a little bit of luxury, for you, and for the planet.
